King Missile

I can’t express how much I like this band. King Missile is in essence the musical manifestations of a New York poet called John S. Hall. It’s all about the words. The music is sculptured to accent the thoughts found in the lyrics. The band itself has constant changes it’s high point during the three albums in the mid nineties when they signed with a major label. Regardless, there are always interesting content found in each album. This compilation comprises their output between 1987-1998. It was compiled in May 2007 with a final re-sequencing done in April 2015. All files are WAV.

Sparks

Although not anywhere near as successful as they were in the mid seventies, Sparks managed to record a number of smart, funny, whacky songs in the following years. This compilation covers from the end of the seventies to their last album of the nineties. Every song a minor jewel regardless of lack of airplay. Enjoy. Compiled and sequenced on Feb 2019. All files are @320.

Low and behold

I’ve noticed that all my older links are broken. They seem to be broken after a certain period of time. To discover this was to realize how useless my efforts of keeping this place going have become. I wanted to house these compilation publicly to have access to them wherever one may be. But if they will consistently be broken after a certain time, what’s the point?

I’m not sure what the answer to that question will be. I still have a great number of compilations I’ve done but I’ve lost the drive to find higher bit rates for everything. So it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything and will continue to be so.

I have one last compilation already prepared, a second volume for Sparks. After I’ve posted that it may be quite a while before I post again. Of course, if anyone wants me to repost a specific link, please leave a comment and I’ll gladly comply. It may take a while before I read the comment so best to check back every week or so if you do.

Lou Reed

An urban poet if not the urban poet of his generation. Misunderstood, disregarded and discarded. And yet never ever truly displaced. Lou Reed has a breath of work of extraordinary quality although in his lifetime hardly ever being granted public airplay or large scale promotion. I can think of only two of his albums ever really being promoted at the time of release. Transformer from 1972 and New York from 1989. And even if they are both radio friendly albums the lyrics are always still too real for comfort. I once read Ann Powers who I thought summed it up best by saying Lou Reed songs at times can provide a certain kind of unsought enlightenment.
The concept here is to compile the best or most interesting recordings grouped by decade; the seventies requiring a two CD set. A five CD total; all compiled and concluded between 08 & 10 January 2014. Bit rate upgraded @320 plus added content reworked in and concluded between 01 & 02 April 2019.
